Faith and Practice - Titus 2
Titus 2
In Titus we see the inseparable link between faith and practice. The behaviors listed below are in conformity to what is required of leaders and in direct contrast to the behavior of the false teachers mentioned in Titus. Right doctrine leads to right behavior. The root of this behavior is the gospel and we are to teach it with authority.
Men
- Sober Minded
- Dignified
- Self-controlled
- Sound in faith
- Sound in love
- Steadfast
Women
- Reverent
- Not slanderers
- Not slaves to drink
- Teach what is good
- Train younger women to love their husbands and children well
- Self-controlled
- Pure
- Kind
- Submissive
Growing in Christ means becoming increasingly more obedient to what has been revealed to you by God as truth.
We can’t accomplish good apart from God. When we look at a list like this and think, “well I can’t do all that!” it is comforting to know that our God is unchanging and his promises are true so when he says that a good work has been started in you and it will be completed, he means it! So pray today “God, here I am. Please do something”.
